You need to have a Pro+ or Agency Plan in order to add audio directly to the timeline.
In this article, we will learn how to work with Powtoon's new audio control. Each aspect of the audio control will have a manifestation on the timeline which allows for additional control.
Adding audio to the timeline allows extreme precision when timing different voiceover files playing in unison with characters and objects onscreen. This will also allow you to add additional audio files to the same slide.

There are two ways to add Audio Controls to your Powtoon.
Voiceover
Add as many voiceover tracks to a slide as you want.
Soundtrack
Add as many soundtracks tracks to a slide as you want.
Important:
1) In the Powtoon Studio, you need to be working in Create mode in order to add audio directly to the timeline.

Adding a Voiceover to a single Slide
- Select the voiceover you wish to use in your Powtoon.

You will need to have a voiceover created already - Learn how to add a voiceover
- Select This Slide Only. The entire voiceover will be added, and your slide will automatically be extended to accommodate the voiceover if needed.

Once you have added the voiceover to the timeline, you can customize it even further.
Adding a Soundtrack to a single Slide
- Select the soundtrack you wish to use in your Powtoon.

- Select This Slide Only.

- If the Sound is longer than the slide, you will have two options to choose from, that will determine how the sound will appear on the slide
Increase Length: This will automatically increase the total length of the slide, to accommodate the soundtrack.
Trim Sound: This will automatically trim the sound, so that it will fit onto the slide.

Additional Customization
Once you have added a sound to the timeline, you will have the option to continue customizing your sound.

- Move the sound along the timeline, to change the start and end times.
- Play the sound.
- Swap: This will allow you to choose a new sound.
Clear: This will remove the sound from the timeline. - Volume : Adjust the volume for this specific sound.
- Automatically reduce the volume of main soundtrack during playback.
Note
Shortening the duration of the voiceover on the timeline will shorten the voiceover itself. In the example below, the voiceover is being shortened on the timeline, and will only play the first two seconds.
