Powtoon organizes its character library into four visual styles, called Looks: Animation, Whiteboard, Video, and Cartoon. Within each Look, characters are grouped into families that share a consistent visual style.
The character families available to you depend on your subscription plan. Some families are available on all plans; others require a Professional, Agency, Business, or EDU plan.

Editable characters
Four character families — Cosmo, Rhapsody, Duo, and Boho — support editing directly in Powtoon Studio. You can access them from the Video Look and Animation style groups.
What you can edit depends on your plan:
- Professional plan: Edit clothing.
- Agency or Business plan: Edit face, body, and clothing.
Note: Cosmo, Rhapsody, Duo, and Boho are not available on the free plan.
Animation Look
The Animation Look includes stylized animated characters suited to explainer and storytelling Powtoons.
Free plan
The free plan includes a base set of Animation Look character families. These characters are available to all users regardless of subscription level.
Professional plan and above
Professional plan subscribers get all Animation Look families available on the free plan, plus access to all editable characters (Cosmo, Rhapsody, Duo, and Boho) and additional Animation Look families including the Etch-It-All and Meet the Pros families.
Note: The specific character names visible in each family are shown in Powtoon Studio when you browse the Animation Look style group.
Whiteboard Look
The Whiteboard Look features characters drawn in a hand-sketched or marker style, suited to educational and explainer content.
Free plan
The free plan includes the Marker family under the Whiteboard Look.
Professional plan and above
Professional plan subscribers get all Whiteboard Look families from the free plan, plus access to all editable characters and additional families including Sketching, Sketching Outline, Young Experts, and Muli.
Video Look
The Video Look includes characters with a more realistic or infographic-style appearance, suited to professional and corporate Powtoons.
Free plan
The free plan includes the Infographic Characters family under the Video Look.
Professional plan and above
Professional plan subscribers get all Video Look families from the free plan, plus access to all editable characters (Cosmo, Rhapsody, Duo, and Boho).
Cartoon Look
The Cartoon Look includes expressive, illustrated characters suited to a wide range of storytelling styles.
Free plan
The free plan includes a base set of Cartoon Look character families available to all users.
EDU plan
EDU plan subscribers get all Cartoon Look families from the free plan, plus additional families including The Kids, The School, The Crafters, Retro, and Heroes at Work.
Professional plan and above
Professional plan subscribers get all Cartoon Look families from the free plan, all editable characters, all EDU plan families, plus additional families including Dream Team, Soho, and Pixel.
