How to share a view-only link to your Powtoon

Once you have finished your Powtoon, you can share it with others as a view-only link. The link is unique to that Powtoon and can be generated from inside Powtoon Studio or from your Workspace.

Note: If you are on a plan with a limited number of premium exports, sharing your Powtoon via a generated link counts as one premium export. See How Can I Share My Powtoon Without Using a Premium Export? for more information.

Sharing a view-only link from Powtoon Studio

To share a view-only link to your Powtoon directly from Powtoon Studio:

  1. Open the Powtoon in Powtoon Studio.
  2. Click Share in the top toolbar.
    ► Alternatively, click Export and then select the share icon from the menu that appears.
  3. Click Generate link. A unique link is created for this Powtoon.
  4. Click Copy link. The link is copied to your clipboard.
  5. Send or post the copied link to your intended viewers.

Sharing a view-only link from your Workspace

To share a view-only link from your Workspace without opening the Powtoon in Powtoon Studio:

  1. Go to your Workspace and locate the Powtoon you want to share.
    ► If the Powtoon does not appear in your recent items, browse your full Workspace to find it.
  2. Hover over the Powtoon thumbnail and click the share icon that appears.
  3. Click Generate link. A unique link is created for this Powtoon.
  4. Click Copy link. The link is copied to your clipboard.
  5. Send or post the copied link to your intended viewers.

What the recipient sees when they open the link

What a recipient sees when they open a shared view-only link depends on whether they have a Powtoon account and are signed in.

If the recipient is signed in to Powtoon: They are taken directly to a playback view of your Powtoon. They can watch the Powtoon but cannot edit it.

If the recipient is not signed in or does not have a Powtoon account: They see a landing page with the option to watch the Powtoon. They may also be prompted to sign up for a Powtoon account, but a Powtoon account is not required to view the shared link.

Note: Recipients who receive a view-only link cannot make changes to your Powtoon. To allow editing, see How to Share a Powtoon.
