How to hide your Powtoon from search engines

By default, Powtoons published on a free plan are set to Public, which means search engines can index and display them in results. If you want to prevent your Powtoon from appearing in search results, you need to publish it with the Unlisted privacy setting. This setting is available on paid subscription plans only.

Plan requirement

The Unlisted setting is available on Lite, Professional, Advanced, Pro+, Agency, and Business plans. Free plan Powtoons are set to Public and cannot be made Unlisted.

How to hide your Powtoon from search engines

Because you cannot change the privacy setting of an already-published Public Powtoon directly, you need to duplicate it, publish the duplicate as Unlisted, and then remove the original Public version.

1. Go to your My Powtoons page.
2. Locate the Powtoon you want to hide from search engines.
3. Click Duplicate on that Powtoon.
   ► This creates an unpublished copy you can export with different privacy settings.
4. Open the duplicated Powtoon.
5. Click Export.
6. Under privacy settings, select Unlisted.
7. Complete the export process.
   ► On paid plans, newly exported Powtoons are set to Unlisted by default, so this setting may already be selected.
8. Return to your My Powtoons page.
9. Delete the original Public version of the Powtoon.

Once complete, your Powtoon is published as Unlisted and the Public version has been removed. Unlisted Powtoons are not indexed by search engines and will not appear in search results.

If your Powtoon still appears in search results

Search engines do not update their indexes instantly. If your Powtoon still appears in results after completing the steps above, allow some time for the search engine to reflect the change. The timeline varies by search engine and is outside Powtoon's control.

Note: The Unlisted setting controls search engine indexing only. Anyone who has the direct link to your Powtoon can still view it. If you need to restrict access entirely, review the privacy options available on your plan.
