How to generate an AI voiceover using Text to Speech

The AI Text to Speech feature in Powtoon Imagine lets you generate a realistic voiceover from typed text — no microphone required. You can choose from a wide library of voices across many languages, preview them before committing, and save the result directly to your Powtoon.

Getting your voiceover

To generate an AI voiceover using Text to Speech, follow these steps from your Powtoon Studio editor or your My Powtoons page.

1. Click Create with AI.
2. Click Let's Record. The Text to Speech module opens.
3. In the module:
   1. Type or paste your script into the text field.
   2. Choose a voice. Your recently used and favourite voices appear here by default.
   3. Click Generate to preview the voiceover.
4. If you are happy with the result, click Save. The voiceover is saved to your Powtoon.

Choosing from the voice library

The Voices Library gives you access to a wide range of realistic AI voices across many languages. You can filter, preview, and apply any voice before generating your voiceover.

1. In the Text to Speech module, click Voices Library.
2. Select the language for your voiceover from the language menu.
3. Use the four filter options to narrow down the available voices:
   • Age
   • Gender
   • Tone
   • Purpose
4. Click the sample button next to any voice to hear a preview.
5. When you find the right voice, click Apply to select it. You can also mark it as a favourite at this step.

   ► The generate voiceover tab reopens automatically with your selected voice applied. For example, if you selected the voice Eleguar, it appears as the active voice in the generate tab.

Changing the title of your voiceover

You can rename a voiceover at any time from within the Text to Speech module.

1. Click the microphone icon next to the voiceover.
2. Type the new title in the field that appears.
3. Click anywhere else in the window to save the title.

Pronunciation and prompting tips

If the AI mispronounces a word, you can adjust your script text to guide the pronunciation more accurately. The following techniques can help:

• Write difficult words phonetically — spell them out as they sound rather than as they are spelled.
• Use capital letters to emphasise a syllable (for example, pre-ZEN-tation).
• Add dashes or apostrophes to break up a word and change how it is read.
• Place a question mark or exclamation mark at the end of a sentence to shift the tone of the delivery.

Note: These are prompting techniques, not guaranteed outcomes. Results may vary depending on the voice and language selected.

Each language listed below is supported by at least one AI voice in the Voices Library.
