How to move an object across a slide using A to B

The A to B feature in Powtoon Studio lets you animate any object so it moves from one position to another during a scene. While the object is in motion, you can also rotate it or change its size.

Moving an object on the slide

To set up an A to B movement, follow these steps:

1. Select the object on the stage that you want to move.
   ► In the example below, a scientist character is selected to walk across the scene.
2. Click the Settings gear icon that appears above the selected object.
3. On the pop-up menu, click A to B.
   A duplicate of the object appears on top of the original, connected by a dotted arrow. A circle marks the starting position (point A) and a triangle marks the ending position (point B).
4. Drag the duplicated object to the position where you want the movement to end.
5. Click Play scene to preview the movement.
6. After the scene plays, click the object to see both positions on the stage again.

Note: The default movement duration is 1.5 seconds. To change the duration, see the article on adjusting object timing in Powtoon Studio.

Note: To cancel the movement, select the object in either position and click Cancel 'A to B' above the object.

Rotating an object in motion

You can rotate an object at its destination so it arrives at a different angle than it started.

1. Complete steps 1–4 above to set up the A to B movement.
2. Select the duplicated object at the destination position (point B).
3. Use the rotation handle to rotate the object to the angle you want it to arrive at.

When the scene plays, the object will rotate as it moves from point A to point B.

Resizing an object in motion

You can also change the size of an object at its destination so it grows or shrinks as it moves.

Note: Resizing during A to B motion cannot be applied to text objects.

1. Complete steps 1–4 above to set up the A to B movement.
2. Select the duplicated object at the destination position (point B).
3. Drag a corner handle of the object to resize it to the size you want it to arrive at.

When the scene plays, the object will scale as it moves from point A to point B.
